John Haynes OBE wrote and then published his very first book which covered the topic of how to build an Austin 7 Special while he was at school back in 1956. After which he wrote an addition two books Special Builders manuals while he was providing National Service in the RAF. The very first actual Haynes Owners Workshop Manual which was for the Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite was published back in 1966.
